Beyond Paradise season 2, which has now aired, again follows the adventures of DI Humphrey Goodman, played by Kris Marshall, in Shipton Abbott.
In great news for fans, we know there will be a third season to enjoy. The second series, which can be enjoyed on iPlayer in the UK still and BritBox in the US, had lots of twists and surprises!
The opening episode sees Humphrey and Esther join the Shipton Abbott Players for a murder mystery rehearsal. Though Humphrey was only playing a detective, things turned from amateur to professional when the actor playing the victim was found dead with a real knife in his back. Away from the case, Humphrey and Martha embarked on the process of becoming foster parents, while Anne catapults herself into the world of online dating.
Episode 6 sees Humphrey and Martha's wedding day arrive, with the lavish affair organised by Anne — whose plans feel far grander than anything either of them actually wanted. Meanwhile, there's no rest for the Shipton Abbott team members who have to deal with the theft of a valuable museum piece and a nefarious pair of cyber criminals before they can join in the celebrations. With bride and groom running around and thieves running amok in Shipton Abbott, can the team wrap everything up in time to mark Humphrey and Martha's long-awaited union — or does fate have other plans?
The first series of the Death in Paradise spin-off was a huge hit and there's another spin-off in the pipeline too, Return to Paradise, which is set in Australia.

Beyond Paradise season 2 plot
During a chat on The One Show, Kris dropped a few plot hints, saying: "We've got a murder on a steam train, a medium who predicts arson attacks — that's quite a good one — a local fishing legend lost at sea. We've got loads of good stuff."
Running through season 2 is whether or not Humphrey and Martha will finally get married or not. It also sees them embarking on becoming foster parents.
The heart of the series is once again in Shipton Abbott, with Humphrey, Esther and co solving more crimes. They aim to make sure they solve as many crimes as possible so Humphrey's boss doesn't have an excuse to close the police station.
Esther's character is developed more as we explore her relationship with her daughter.
What happened in episode 1?
The opening episode of the new series saw Humphrey and Esther join the Shipton Abbott Players for a murder mystery rehearsal. Though Humphrey is only playing a detective, things turn from amateur to professional when the actor playing the victim is found dead with a real knife in his back.
As the duo tackle the perplexing crime, they soon unravel a dark past that reveals hidden connections between the actors. Away from the case, Humphrey and Martha embark on the process of becoming foster parents, while Anne catapults herself into the world of online dating.
What happened in episode 2?
The second episode saw a clairvoyant predicting unusual events that begin occurring in the life of a recently bereaved woman. The team starts to suspect that the psychic's powers might be too good to be true, as the woman starts ending up in more and more dangerous situations. When the officers discover a connection to her deceased grandfather, everything begins to fall into place. On the home front, it's a big day for Humphrey and Martha as they attend their fostering interviews. The pair are intent on demonstrating how earnest they are to proceed.
What happened in episode 3?
A fishing trawler heads out to sea with three brothers and their ailing stepmother aboard. When it returns to Shipton Abbott harbour several hours later, only the three fishermen remain. A note found on deck suggests the woman took her own life. As her estranged daughter comes to town to help make funeral arrangements, the simple case grows more complex.
Elsewhere, the day of the house visit arrives, though it's no plain sailing for Humphrey and Martha.
What happened in episode 4
When a priest from a Catholic boarding school suddenly disappears, Humphrey and Esther find that the case bears uncanny similarities to local myth The Devil on the Rocks. With a large sum of money missing from the school safe, the headmistress reluctant to aid the investigation and the priest nowhere to be found, the team members have their work cut out trying to pin down the truth. Meanwhile, Zoe helps Martha clean up Ten Mile Kitchen after a break-in, Anne's new flame helps her move onto the Lily Bond, as Humphrey and Martha take over her house.
What happens in episode 5?
The episode begins on a moor outside of Shipton Abbott, where a woman is found face down on the ground, with an arrow through her shoulder. The victim, Niamh Kirby, didn't see her attacker, and there's no trace of their presence or weapon at the scene. As the team digs deeper, a feud between Niamh and her brother-in-law is uncovered, which may or may not be relevant. Meanwhile, Anne dives into the planning of the wedding, but Humphrey and Martha worry that she might be a little too invested in their fairy-tale ceremony after her recent romantic entanglements.
What happens in episode 6?
Humphrey and Martha's wedding day finally arrives, with the lavish affair organised by Anne - whose plans feel far grander than anything either of them actually wanted.
